The game’s importance is substantial for both clubs as City aim for the Premier League title and Chelsea for Champions League qualification.
The Citizens have been in extremely good goal scoring form this season with a staggering 68 goals. 43 of those goals have come at home and they’ve managed 12 wins, 0 draws and 1 loss at the Etihad this term.
Chelsea started the season like a house on fire but on the road recently the wheels have come off. They’ve lost the last three on their travels including a 4-0 mauling at Bournemouth last time out.
When playing away to City, Chelsea don’t fare particularly well it’s 2 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses over the last 10. Those stats aren’t as bad as many but it still highlights the difficulty of the task ahead of them.
When the sides met earlier in the season, Sarri outcoached Pep and got the better of him. Chelsea with Hazard playing as a false 9 countered well and punished City, running out 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.
It’s not hard to assume the game being played in a similar fashion from a Chelsea perspective. City won’t change either and will be confident they can be more clinical than they were back in December when the two last met.
Backing under 2.5 goals looks prudent at current odds, Chelsea will be ultra conservative and can frustrate City as seen in their previous meeting. We are able to get odds of 29/20 on such an outcome tomorrow.
That theory would tie in nicely with the game being tight, particularly 1st half. Odds of 7/2 with Mr Green on the Draw/City HT-FT result are too big, let’s take advantage.
Corners should be plentiful and City will account for most of them. Sarri-ball allows the opposition wide players to have the ball and looks to clog the midfield. That should allow City wide players the chance to get down the wings, make crosses and ultimately lead to corners.
