The onus is back on Manchester City following Liverpool’s hammering of Huddersfield on Friday night and any fixture is a potential hazard now. A trip to Turf Moor is a world away from hosting the Terriers although Guardiola’s men do have two 5-0 wins against Burnley in the bank already this season. That being said Burnley were not in the form they’re in now, Burnley are at home and the stakes are higher than ever for the visitors.
City haven’t lost in the league since going to Newcastle in February, the only blip being their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Tottenham. Thanks to that they have no distractions until the end of the league season but Kevin De Bruyne will play no part in that. Had the referee seen David Silva’s kick during the Manchester United game he would likely be out for the season too. Fernandinho and Gündogan are also doubtful for this match.
Burnley have been playing catch up all season thanks to their participation in the Europa League. Victims of their own domestic success last season they played their first match almost exactly 10 months ago and have suffered as a result. Apart from a little run of wins at the turn of the year they have not been in such good form as now, freed as they are from any relegation worries.
Fairly recently the Clarets have gone to Old Trafford – post Mourinho – and should have won, have beaten Tottenham and Wolves and probably should have taken Chelsea on Monday too. They have a habit of defeating the Champions at home and City have only beaten them once in the last 3 years at Turf Moor. Make no mistake this could turn out to be a very tricky tie for the champions.
22/1 for a Burnley win is huge and if you’ve got a free bet lurking in an account somewhere you could do worse than to stick it on that. Such big odds mean that other markets offer a lot of value too and the double chance market is where we’re putting our money. Given all of the above 5/1 on Burnley to win or draw is more than enough to draw us into a small investment with Bet365.
