Three weeks remain now in the Premier League Darts, nobody has yet been eliminated and nobody has definitely made the top four for finals night. Peter Wright and Michael Smith must win their remaining three matches but even that may not be enough for qualification. This week’s fixtures are below:
Rob Cross v Michael Smith
Peter Wright v Mensur Suljovic
Daryl Gurney v Michael van Gerwen
James Wade v Gerwyn Price
MVG and Cross are best placed to qualify right now meaning that the big battle is likely to remain between Suljovic, Gurney, Wade and Price. The latter two play each other, Suljovic takes on a dispirited Peter Wight and the clash of the day sees Superchin take on Mighty Mike.
You probably know the drill by now, no single player is so much better than any of the others that they should be massive odds-on, even van Gerwen or especially him in this instance. Just like James Wade who played brilliantly last week and should have won, Daryl Gurney has a greater chance of victory over MVG than the odds represent. Also like Wade, Gurney has already beaten the Dutchman in the Premier League this season. Further to that he also won the Players Championship Title with an 11-9 victory over MVG in November, taking the last 3 legs. We’ll therefore be taking the 6/1 with Matchbook on a victory for the Irishman.
