There are a few very fine fillies lining up for the Irish 1000 Guineas it seems. Lady Kaya will miss the race but it’s still expected that Hermosa, Qabala, Just Wonderful and Iridessa will take part. They are high class/promising sorts but our selection has got some extremely impressive bits of form in her favour.
East is the apple of Kevin Ryan’s eye and he knows when he has a good one. After winning a Hamilton maiden last year, the call was made to take her to Saint-Cloud for a Group 3 which she readily won. The next step was another overseas journey to Churchill Downs and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The second place finish there was no disgrace to the mighty Newspaperofrecord. In fact the winning margin would have been much smaller if not for an unclear run.
This season started with a pipe opener at Longchamp in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches where the ground came up heavy which wouldn’t have been ideal. Third place that day was fine in her prep for this race. At 15/2 with William Hill we have a solid each-way bet on what could be the classiest runner in the race.
