England have been good for a little while now but it still takes some getting used to. That being said one bad defeat could see people turn on Southgate as they have everyone else in the end. We can just enjoy it in the meantime though and a squad consisting of England’s top teams for the most part can hopefully carry on the good work of the domestic clubs in Europe.
Holland were awful for quite some time and started off the Nations League with a defeat to France. Koeman has taken the squad, obviously containing van Dijk and a smattering of Ajax players, and overseen a revenge win over the French and a win and draw v Germany. The Germans got their own back in a recent European Championship qualifier but these results are a world away from the defeats that saw Holland miss the last two majors.
The England squad is most affected by the action last weekend and defence is where the issues for Southgate’s team have generally been. Holland’s recent scoring record on top of that makes us further think that England will concede. The main man for Koeman’s side has been Manchester United flop Memphis Depay who has netted on a regular basis internationally. He’s also opened the scoring and doubled up a couple of times for his country of late. It therefore makes sense for us to take up Betfred’s double delight, hat-trick heaven offer by backing Memphis at 5/1 to score the first goal.
