Thanks for joining us for the first in a new section of the website where we go inside genuine bookie trading rooms and get all the latest information from behind enemy lines. For the next few weeks we will be checking in with a Trading Manager at one of the newer companies to set up on the island of Malta. They are purely UK facing and came to the industry with a few fresh ideas and a decent marketing budget.
GR: Thanks for joining us and being a trendsetter.
TM: Nice of you to show an interest, always looking to talk industry to those with something to say.
GR: Ok, enough of the belly tickling let’s get to it. We’re talking Friday morning (28th June) and getting a recap on your trading room yesterday.
TM: Yeah, it wasn’t a bad day for turnover with a couple of better football matches on and the cricket earlier.
GR: I’m guessing one of the football matches saw the most money? (England v Norway – Womens, Spain v France – U21s)
TM: Yeah the women’s football has really captured the imagination of our customers. 20%+ of our daily turnover came on the England v Norway Women’s match.
GR: Is that single bets only?
TM: No that’s all bets so could have been an acca with several other games and the England match.
GR: What event was next in line for highest turnover?
TM: It was the West Indies v India game in the Cricket World Cup. That was roughly 10% of the days TO we saw.
GR: Have you found customer’s are getting involved in the World Cup more so than other longer format cricket?
TM: Without doubt, it’s probably mostly due to the time of the day. Less events to compete with late morning early afternoon in the UK.
GR: Do you have any big cricket punters? Able to tell us anything about them?
TM: Cricket has a high average stake at our place and we have a few that bet four figures and low five figures.
GR: Bit of a rich man’s sport isn’t it, also it could take 5 days to get paid so you might as well have a good go at it eh? (laughs)
GR: Well I can hear your phone going mate, thanks for the update and we look forward to catching up Monday for a rundown of the weekend at your place.
