The ‘real’ football is upon us, and what a game we had last night with Luton and Middlesboro, but the summer leagues have some time to run yet and there’s some good MLS action about this weekend. New York Red Bulls are looking to cement their place in the play-off positions and they still have a chance of winning the Eastern Conference. Should they win they will put a dent in Toronto’s play-off hopes so there is plenty at stake here.
Bradley Wright-Phillips has been the main man for the Red Bulls for years and as far as goalscoring goes one of the key players in MLS full stop. He’s been out injured for a couple of months though and is just now making his comeback. In his absence Brian White has stepped up, getting 8 goals this season and opening the scoring in the last two matches. With Wright-Phillips likely to be on the bench again White should start up front and we like the 6/1 on him getting the first in this match.
Few teams have conceded as many goals as Toronto, particularly on the road, while New York Red Bulls have been scoring for fun in their home matches. Their last five home games have seen them score at least twice, sometimes three times and sometimes four. Although they do concede only two teams have hit the net more than the Red Bulls and more often than not they open the scoring at home. Just to be safe though we’ll back White to score first and anytime on this occasion.
