Liverpool travel to Belgium in need of a win tonight given the results of the other games in their group thus far. Fortunately for them they are taking on Genk who appear to be the group’s whipping boys at the moment. This is the first of a double header against the Belgians and while the second leg is at home it is followed by the visit of Man City to Anfield in the league. Napoli and Salzburg are first and second in Group E at the moment and as they meet each other tonight Liverpool must secure the three points to take advantage.
We ought to be able to expect goals, Liverpool have scored in every game except at Napoli and usually they hit the net multiple times. They tend to concede too and they’ve featured prevalently in the match result and both teams to score market this season. Genk also score a few and with Matip and Alexander-Arnold missing they’ll have probably have the chance to get a consolation goal as Mo Salah returns to the visiting side. Genk have been shut out a couple of times already this season though so we don’t quite have the faith in them to go the BTTS route – instead we’re going for total goals.
Genk played a small part in an eight goal thriller on their trip to Salzburg and there were seven goals when the Austrians went to Anfield so it should be a question of how many Liverpool get. However that was also expected at the weekend and as that didn’t pan out we’ll be a little conservative and go for the over 3.5 goals market at 6/5 with Matchbook. 4-0, 3-1 or better for Liverpool gets us paid and in a worst case scenario a 2-2 also works, plus if a shock occurs those scorelines for Genk work too.
