A MATCH DAY EXPERIENCE– in a theatre in Valletta.

Champions League, Copa America and UEFA Nations League aside. Given a fair few followers of the site are based on the island of Malta we thought it would be relevant to cover an event that’s being held there in mid-June. This is set to be a little bit different to your standard 20 minutes after-dinner speech from an ex-pro. Knowing one or two of the individuals involved in putting this together I can safely say that for €25 (standard ticket) you are getting good value for the evening’s entertainment.

They seem to have covered all the bases with this gig. Classy venue (City Theatre in Valletta), well thought out food & bev and have flown across a speaker that is set to deliver plenty of laughs and interesting insights. Jan Molby is very well connected at Liverpool FC and the world of football in general. He’s scored the winning goal in an all-Merseyside FA Cup final, played alongside the legend Johan Cruyff and has bossed the centre circle for both Liverpool, Ajax and Denmark. I bet you there are some great stories to come!

The schedule for the night is as follows;

Fan Zone opens at 17:00
Meet & Greet at 19:00
Show starts at 20:00
Out the doors at 23:30

There is plenty going on over the night with a Fan Zone, typical matchday food, live music, a Meet & Greet and Molby himself on stage. Oh I forgot, the lovely Tricia McTeague will do an acoustic gig warming up happy fans and I heard rumours there will be a Scouse comedian on stage. If you don’t know Scouse humour then you better read up on it and be prepared. You are in for a treat!

There are different different grades of seating depending on your budget;

VIP Table Seat – 8 people per table – €100
Platinum – €75
Gold – €50
Silver – €35
Bronze – €25

We were keen to get all the info on the VIP Table seats which at €100 aren’t cheap but when you look at what you’ll get in return, it makes sense. Best seats close to stage, snacks, beers, soft drinks, whisky, time with Jan before the event and what I’m promised will be excellent service.

Allan Aasterud (and Click Recruitment) is a massive Liverpool fan and has pulled the strings to get this together. He has said he wants to recreate the typical match day experience, the sounds, smells and banter. So we expect plenty of songs, beers, burgers and hot-dogs and more than a bit of piss-taking. This is a fans day out organised by passionate supporters, and that’s why I am sure this will be cracking atmosphere. There’s something for everyone and if you have never never been to an English football stadium before then you should make sure you book off 20th of June. Valletta is the place to be that night guys.

A few of the Green Room team live on Malta and I’m actually going to jump on a plane for this so it better be good! Like most things in life, it’s a bit of a gamble but given the attention to detail that’s gone into the planning for this thing – it’s odds-on to be a damn good night. Molby may have turned 55 but the Danish Kop idol will prove he hasn’t lost his touch or sharp tongue with an impressive display in front of a jubilant 500 crowd in the Maltese capital.

I can already see the local headlines next day.

Jan Molby rolled back the years with a scintillating performance in Valletta!
