Yankee Bet Tips
The Yankee bet is mostly used in horse racing. It’s a bet that attracted customers due to the potential high payouts for a comparitively low stake.
Customers need 4 tips on their betslip when placing a Yankee bet and need to get at least 2 tips correct for a return. The betting system is made up of 11 individual bets.
There is little doubt the Yankee has become less popular since the Lucky 15 was invented by the Done brothers of Betfred. Customers are more drawn to that bet due to the bonuses/concessions that it comes with. Neither of those bets are particularly savvy to be making long term.
What is a Yankee bet?
The Yankee as mentioned is traditionally a horse racing bet. You may seem some greyhound punters use it too, particularly in highstreet betting shops.
How does a Yankee bet work?
The Yankee bet requires 4 selections on the betslip. There are no single bets in a yankee but all possible doubles, trebles and the accumulator are covered. That’s 11 bets in total, see our guide here;
12:45 Southwell – Majestic Moon
13:15 Southwell – Cross Fire
13:45 Southwell – Swiss Cross
14:15 Southwell – Angel Gabrial
Let’s give them numbers, 1, 2, 3 and 4.
1 – Majestic Moon
2 – Cross Fire
3 – Swiss Cross
4 – Angel Gabrial
Here you can see the Yankee features four doubles, 3 trebles and an accumulator;
1 + 2
1 + 3
1 + 4
2 + 3
2 + 4
3 + 4
1 + 2 + 3
1 + 2 + 4
1 + 3 + 4
2 + 3 + 4
Yankee bet explained honestly
The Yankee has a high degree of difficulty due to the fact that bettors need to correctly predict 4 tips to fully win the bet. Returns are generated with 2 correct selections but obviously the more correct tips, the bigger the returns.
You’ll find Yankees available on most betting sites and certainly there will be Yankee betslips in betting shops across the UK.
Yankee bets bonuses
Although not well advertised, there are often bonuses available for getting all your tips correct in a Yankee. This will almost exclusively apply to bets placed in highstreet bookies. WilliamHill offer a bonus of 15% on profits if all horses or greyhounds win in your Yankee bet. Other sports are usually exempt from this promotion.
Do you advise Yankee bets at GreenRoom.bet?
As we often state, we are not interested in whether bets get people excited or not. Our aim is to provide a Value Avalanche! The truth is this is more likely to come in the form of single bets rather than Yankees.
